Pancreatic Cancer UK (www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk) is a charity set up to improve the lives of people diagnosed with the disease, as my husband was in January 2009. Profits from jewellery sold on this blog will be donated to the charity to further their work.
In January 2009 my husband, Ted, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It is one of the most aggressive and deadly cancers and only 3% of people survive for 5 years or more after diagnosis.
The symptoms are vague and often confused with other, less severe, illnesses, meaning that by the time of diagnosis the cancer is too advanced to be operable in the majority of cases.
After Ted's diagnosis, I got most of my initial information and support from Pancreatic Cancer UK and I'm still a very active participant in their discussion forum where anyone can obtain support and information from others affected by pancreatic cancer.
The Charity also encourages research into pancreatic cancer both by giving information on current trials and making grants available to researchers for appropriate projects.
